Every Wednesday this summer, Saint Paul Parks & Rec is bringing Rec in Motion to Central Village Park! From 5–7 PM, Rec Workers will lead safe and fun activities for youth — a perfect way to enjoy the park and connect with neighbors.

Carty Park Community Build Day

Help build a playground! A total of approximately 200 volunteers from Delta Air Lines, Summit-University Planning Council, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation, Saint Paul Parks Conservancy, and KABOOM!
Work is available for volunteers of all levels of skill and ability. Please note - All youth under the legal working age for this state will be welcome to participate in youth activities but will not be able to participate in building in the construction areas.
Rondo 56'

With its four musical hosts, Rondo '56 paints a portrait in music, stories, and archival photos of St. Paul's thriving Black neighborhood in the decade before it was sliced down the middle to make room for I-94. Alive with oral histories, archival images, and R&B and gospel hits from the years following World War II – by Nat King Cole, Dinah Washington, Mahalia Jackson, Big Mama Thornton and more – Rondo '56 isa loving evocation of this vibrant and tight-knit community that most of St. Paul's Black residents called home.

We’ll kick things off at Central Village Park with an ice cream social, then ride together to the Hallie Q. Brown Community Center. Bring your bike, bring your family, and let’s ride for community fun and connection!

3rd Annual Rondo Block Party 2025

The Rondo Block Party (www.rondoblockparty.com) is back for its 3rd year and will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, from 11AM until 6PM at the Rondo Commemorative Plaza, 820 Rondo Ave, St. Paul, MN .This exciting community event, planned by Rondo natives and community members, celebrates the rich and diverse history of St. Paul's historic Rondo neighborhood. After two great years, we're continuing to elevate the experience and celebrate Rondo. Attendees can look forward to local live music that will get everyone dancing, delectable food offerings that will delight your palate, and a variety of activities to keep the entire family engaged throughout the day.Our location at 820 Rondo Ave provides space to enjoy the festivities,s leaving more room for a vibrant marketplace, a diverse food court, local dance groups and artists, and tons of FREE activities for young and old. This event is more than just a block party; it’s a tribute to the unique, vibrant, and dynamic essence of Rondo. The Rondo neighborhood was a significant cultural, residential, and business hub for the Black community in Saint Paul throughout much of the 20th century. The construction of the Interstate 94 freeway in the late 1950s and 1960s strategically displaced over 650 families and numerous businesses, deeply impacting the community. Despite these challenges, Rondo has evolved into a diverse and vibrant area, with both long-time residents and newcomers contributing to its revitalization. This event aims to honor the past, celebrate the present, and foster unity and cultural pride as we reconnect the threads of our shared history.
