An Evening at Golden Thyme

An Evening at Golden Thyme

Golden Thyme Restaurant and Bar Review

Phil Hague

My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary with a wonderful dinner at the new Golden Thyme Restaurant and Bar. Stepping into the remade space felt like an entirely different experience from the legacy Golden Thyme Cafe. The sounds of Classic Jazz fill the restaurant and a well appointed bar has replaced the old service counter. Photos of iconic Jazz artists adorn walls painted in rich colors. The one thing that hasn't changed is the friendliness of the staff making a welcoming atmosphere.

The menu features creative upgrades of many classic southern dishes. My wife had the Catfish Po'boy - perfectly spiced in the softest hoagie roll. I made the wise choice to order the BBQ Ribs and Slaw; fall-off the bone decadence with a beautiful plating that makes ribs feel upscale. The cocktails were outstanding with the Rondo 93 being the perfect summer drink.

We finished the evening sharing the Affogato Cookie Sundae, a multi sensory journey from hot to cold and bitter to sweet. The prices at Golden Thyme will fit a range of budgets and they also serve a lower priced lunch menu. Having a restaurant of this quality only a few blocks from home is something we value about life in Summit-University!
